Episode 482: People are training way too hard

Sep 7, 2025 · 1:47

Summary

A stranger in Berlin thinks people are training way too hard at the gym, and Kareem couldn't agree more. Why are 40-year-old men running marathons when they could be home drinking beer? The conversation turns into a full-blown rant about HIIT classes that feel like military boot camps, reformer Pilates machines that look like medieval torture devices, and fitness influencers like The Rock making everyone think their name is also their body. "Their name is Tony," the rider points out. Even Pilates got hard. What happened to just taking a walk and eating ice cream? The two bond over their shared anti-fitness philosophy, with Kareem jokingly crowned as the movement's new leader. They're not planning to overthrow the government. They just want everyone to chill out.

So, what's your take? People are training way too hard.

100% agree. I go to a gym and I do this hit classes and everybody's training like a US Marine. It's insane. In those studios, they look like medieval dungeons. Everybody's yelling.

That's true. It's like, what's happening?

I think that going to the gym has become an epidemic. It's not just going to the gym, it's also running. Like, there's 40-year-old men out there training for a marathon. What the [__] are you doing? Go home.

Go home. Relax. Put your legs up. Start a family. I don't know.

Start a family. Drink a beer. I think it comes from people like The Rock cuz they're training so hard.

Yeah, but The Rock is The Rock. His name is his body. His name is his body. And people think they're the Rock now.

Yeah, but their name is Tony. It makes no sense.

No offense. And I'm thinking, are we planning to overthrow the government? What are we doing? Like, why are we training?

Well, here's the thing. Big buff guys. Yes.

They've never been able to overthrow the government. It's always little skinny guys. It's who you least expect.

You think so? I think so. Because even pilates got hard.

Oh, dude. I went to Pilates one time. It was the worst experience of my life. They now do reformer Pilates. They have those torture machines.

That thing is awful. What are we doing? It's like stretching.

The training in general is too hard. It's too hard.

We need to relax. We need to open the window, do a little stretch, have a walk outside. Like just chill. Yeah. What happened to taking a walk?

What happened to eating some ice cream and like just doing a walk? Well, you know what they say now? They say jogging is bad.

Jogging is bad. No. No. Jogging is good. Running is bad.

Are you doing sports? No, of course not. You are our leader now.

You are our leader now. Tell people to stop it. Do you train?

I mean a little bit, but I want to stop. I can help you stop.

Yeah, I told you. What are you doing after this?

I'm going to get some ice cream and then we go to Burkina. I'll see you there tonight. The Rock, please get choppy. Nature can only heal if we got the chop chop rock.
