There Are No Takes
Summary
A straphanger opens with a paradox: there are no takes. Kareem pushes back immediately, pointing out that this entire show is built on takes, but the rider insists that takes are ephemeral, shifting with time and perspective. Then comes the pivot. Actually, he does have a take. Two, in fact. First, as a father of twin daughters, he can't fathom why women's reproductive rights are up for debate by anyone other than women themselves. Kareem agrees. Second take: we need to treat each other with courtesy, respect, and kindness. Simple as that. Kareem tallies the score: two agreements, one disagreement on the whole "no takes" premise.

So what's your take? My take is that there are no takes. There are no takes. 100% disagree because this show's about takes. I just deleted your show as I have gotten older and I look at like some of my takes from the past. I don't think those takes hold up.
Okay, takes are like—you think takes are ephemeral? They're ephemeral. They come and go. I think the way that you perceive things and the way that I perceive those things are all different. Okay, so if there are no takes, then what is your take right now about no takes? That's technically a take.
Okay, actually I do have a take. Oh, now he has a take. Now the guy has a freaking take. As like a father of twin daughters, I have a take as to not understanding why a woman's right to choose how to treat her own body is any sort of discussion for anybody on the face of the planet other than women. Preach. 100% agree. It is absolutely buck wild and I and I just don't understand when that is just going to get under control. We got to change it. We got to change it. Can't take abortion rights off the damn table. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And actually, you know what, I have another take. I have one more take for not having any takes. I think it's critical that we wake up and we treat each other with courtesy and respect and kindness and we treat each other a way that we would want to be treated. 100%. Simple as that. So I agree with two. I disagree with one. Your first take was wrong.
Sounds good.
